Busy at 3

November 19, 2006

Haven’t written in ages. I have been very busy with my new job for the mobile operator 3 in Denmark. It is alot of fun and I am very happy to be working with mobile content. Exiting times for sure. Mobile content is reaching a very high quality, the network works really well and the 3G phones are hot now! I could not imagine a greater area to be working in!

I am also contributing to the 3 blog on http://www.3blog.dk/

Ungdomsringen

October 31, 2006

These last two days I did a talks for “Ungdomsringen” on teens and media. The listeners all work with young kids, and are very interested in discussing this subject. As always my approach was very pro media. Ofcouse I believe there should be some protection of children in some situations. But I am against restriction and much more for communication between the online and offline generation. Guidance,,, driving license to the crazy internet world. It is kind of hard to learn to drive if your teacher doesn’t know anything about the car. I think some people were a bit provoked and worried I was representing commercial interests, since I was so pro internet and mobile phones :-) Fact is I have been this for a looong time.  One lady was very worried about the effect all these big corporations have on the youngsters. “Disney should be punished” she said. Without really having a suggestion to what kind of punishment the father of Mickey Mouse should suffer.

But the most important thing was that there was a good debate going, and that is what I really wanted to see.

My other office

October 22, 2006

Sitting in my favourite hang out place. The “Laundromat cafe” in Copenhagen. I love taking my laptop to this place. I can do my laundry while I eat a good brunch, see my friends and surf the web  I am preparing a speech for  two conferences on Kids and media two weeks from now. http://www.ungdomsringen.dk/Default.aspx?ID=10&ShowOnParagraphID=148&CalenderEventID=345

There is a real interest in the subject these days. It seems like teachers, politicians and even parents are growing an interest in the youngster ;-) Maybe because they are realizing they need to learn to understand them to bridge the technological generation gap. It is not just a matter of computer games and SMS. It is larger than that. Pretty soon the online generation will start entering the workplace and THEN there will be some sharpening up to do for the offline folks.

Luckly there are several smart people acting as cultural ambassadors. Lets call it travel guides to the online universe.

Morten Bay and Julie Schytte Ralund just released the book “Generation Netværk”. It is worthwhile reading as an introduction to kids and new media. Read more on Mortens Blog.

Freebeer!

October 14, 2006

Sounds like a dream to many. But the free part is not like in “keep your money in your pockets” but more like “feel free to join in”. The danish art group Superflex has started the project with the brewery Skands. But anyone is free to improve on the recipe and design, as long as the one who distributes an improved version releases the changes.  It is the same principle as in free software and from now on the beer will only get better and better. Skands and Superflex will release a new version every 6 months. Next version should by my calculations be coming out Q1 2007. Hopefully with more bottles than the first version which quickly sold out.

Google eats Youtube

October 11, 2006

More interesting strategic news from big players in the digital world.

Typically I haven’t seen this huge deal mentioned much in danish newpapers. I can´t help thinking if it is because the journalist don´t know  much of YouTube? It was a major story on german prime time news. But here it gets no major mention????? Sometimes we are just too provinsial and selfsufficiant in this country. It is about time we start thinking on more global levels. Business AND politics.

Networking and listening

October 11, 2006

Today I spend the day at the conference New Media Days. It is a relatively new conference in Denmark, but for sure one that is appreciated. Very popular and totally sold out.

I am just enjoying listening to the sessions and meeting people on the same page. Still it seems that we have a long way to go to make use of and learn to produce content for new platforms. Ofcourse my main focus is the mobile. There will be a few sessions on that tomorrow.

October 8, 2006

Keen shoppers can this month buy the danish fashion magazine “Costume” and read my article on shopping in Delhi, India.

Lots of tips for bargains and great restaurant experiences in the wonderful capital of India.

TV2 wants interactive sale

October 6, 2006

The danish television station TV2 has shown a new more modern and commercial path since the new CEO Per Michael Jensen has been in charge. The interactive department has been put into the spotlight and recently the new commercial director Lars Bernt was introduced. “Why is TV2 not earning more money on the interactive areas” Per Michael Jensen asked. It looks like the just might be pretty soon.

New job!

October 2, 2006

I have started a new job and I am very exited about it. I am now working as content manager for 3 (Hi3G) in Denmark. Which means I am in charge of all the exiting content on the mobile Planet 3.

For me it is the perfect combination of the telecommunication industry and the entertainment industry. I am really looking forward to making sure that 3 has the absolutely best content platform on the danish mobile marked.

Freedom of speech

September 20, 2006

I can warmly recommend the comedy show “Ordet er mit” playing now at the Bellevue theatre in Copenhagen. Five of the best danish stand up comedians deal with serious and not so serious issues on the topic “Freedom of speech”.

Tickets can be booked through http://www.billetnet.dk/html/artist.htmI?l=EN&artist=ORDET+ER+MIT%21
