Sounds like a dream to many. But the free part is not like in “keep your money in your pockets” but more like “feel free to join in”. The danish art group Superflex has started the project with the brewery Skands. But anyone is free to improve on the recipe and design, as long as the one who distributes an improved version releases the changes. It is the same principle as in free software and from now on the beer will only get better and better. Skands and Superflex will release a new version every 6 months. Next version should by my calculations be coming out Q1 2007. Hopefully with more bottles than the first version which quickly sold out.
